Preparation is key to any successful endeavour. It is best to bide one's time, and wait for the perfect moment. Sweat in peace time saves blood in war time.
I could have landed in Japan with no clear plan, a regular student dorm and no clear objectives for what I wanted out of this (at least a) year in Japan. But thanks to those that came before I've already had the most interesting and exhilarating three weeks of my life.
I strongly recommend any person considering a trip to Japan to make clear and decisive plans before departure. Don't get me wrong, I live most of my life gone with the wind, but never without solid and deep roots. If you put the time in before departure, you'll have the freedom to fly once you arrive (and get over your jet-lag, sorry no secrets revealed in this blog).
In this blog I'll regularly post my experiences in Japan. I will focus on my martial arts training, Shakuhachi flute lessons, Japanese University life, and also general musings about being a gaijin in this Floating World which is Kyoto, Japan.
